Why Gladmore?

In 2010, I went on a roadtrip with my mom to the Carolinas. Outside of Asheville, we visited the Biltmore, the stunning and enormous mansion built by George Vanderbilt. Several years later, my husband and I bought our duplex in Indianapolis. In a moment grandiose self-deprecation, we dubbed it Gladmore. I immediately poured a lot of heart into making it a home, from hanging art to painting the kitchen turquoise to outfitting the powder room in a mermaid theme.

As I began my coaching journey in 2023, my own coach shared my SELF with me, which includes “Sanctuary.” This concept became deeply meaningful to me. I recognized my innate ability to be a sanctuary others, in my love, support, and celebration of them. It also struck me that as someone who ended up living in the city where I grew up, I have become part of the sanctuary for hometown friends who visit from out of town.

I’ve also realized the need to be a sanctuary for myself, not just others. Since I draw comfort from my home, it seemed fitting to name my business Gladmore Coaching, reflecting sanctuary (and of course, some levity).

I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.
